A Chain of Hope
In many instances, a relative is willing and able to donate a kidney and yet may not be a match, in terms of blood or tissue type, for their loved one. Other times, people are inspired to give the gift of organ donation, even though they don’t know someone personally who is in need of a kidney. Recognizing these two important kidney donor situations, the medical community has created several programs that enable donors and patients in need to be matched appropriately.
